Toyota Prius is a an electric car from Toyota Motor corporation. It is a hybrid car which was first released in Japan in 1997. It has been sold worldwide, but most of the sales were from Japan and North America. More than one millions units were sold worldwide by the year 2009. NHW10, NHW11, and NHW20 are the three models of Toyota Prius. The first two models are with 4 doors and both of them are Sedans. And the latter model is a 5 door hatchback. The production of NHW20 started in 2003. The total number of cells used in Prius NHW10, NHW11 and NHW20 are 240, 228 and 168 respectively. And each cell is of 1.2 Volts. And the cells weigh like 50 kg.

Prius NHW10 is the first generation model of Toyota Prius and it was sold only in Japan, New Zealand and Australia. The sale of these cars started at the end of 1997. The second generation model from Toyota Prius is the NHW11 and it’s production started in 2001 and ended in 2003. It went for just 2 whole years, but the sales were not that bad. Anyways, it has got the brand name Toyota with it. The models that were sold in the US were with a 1.5 litre engine and 6 cylinders. Some of the other things that are found in this model are AC motor, permanent magnet, gasoline engine, and Ni-MH battery. And when talking about the transmission, it is with a 1-speed planetary gear. In the US, these cars were sold for about 20,000 USD and these were the first model from Prius to be sold here. And the first generation model of Prius weren’t sold here.

Prius NHW20 is the third generation model from Toyota Prius and the production of these cars started from 2004 onwards. This model from Toyota is also called as a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle. This model also uses the NiMH battery pack but these are much powerful and efficient than the first and second generation models of Toyota Prius. Not just that, the battery packs comes with a warranty of about 160,000 km or 8 years. And this is the warranty condition for the 2004 model and that sold in the US.
